Marina Aliferopoulou was born and raised in Piraeus. She is a Lawyer and Accredited Mediator. She has been working for over 25 years as a legal advisor in the shipping industry, initially as an associate in maritime law firms in Piraeus and later as an in-house lawyer in management companies of ocean-going vessels owned by Greek shipowners. Marina Aliferopoulou is actively involved in writing and participating in maritime conferences and events both in Greece and abroad.

Professional Experience
Maritime Law: Over 25 years of experience in the shipping sector. Excellent knowledge of shipping law and maritime regulations. Previously worked for major Greek maritime law firms in Piraeus. Currently mainly employed as an in-house lawyer in management companies of ocean-going vessels.
Shipping Finance: Legal advice on maritime loan agreements, securities, mortgages, etc., preparation of all documents.
Ship Sales: Registration under various flags. Preparation of all related documents, communication with authorities.
Litigation Practice and Claims Handling: Court experience related to ship collisions, conservatory arrest of ships for maritime claims, handling claims related to insurance coverage from P&I clubs, crew claims, charter party claims, and claims related to transported cargo.
Experience in handling marine pollution cases from persistent oil, participation in negotiations with the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPCF) in London. Handling significant maritime cases for international cement industry. Judicial handling and collection of large claims for a maritime fuel trading company.
Corporate Law: Establishment of Greek and foreign companies. Providing legal advice on corporate compliance. Opening bank accounts (preparation of all documents). GDPR advice.
